The Breaking Point of Love Chapter 74: A Quiet Dinner as Martha Tries to Reconnect Celeste and Trevor

Twenty minutes later, Trevor returned with Jordyn.

Martha’s gaze moved past Trevor and settled on Jordyn. Grinning, she waved at her. “You’re back, Jo!”

“Hi, Nana.” Jordyn ran toward Martha. After Martha hugged her and ruffled her hair, Jordyn finally walked over to Celeste. “Hi, Mom.”

Celeste hummed in response. When she hugged Jordyn, she noticed the faint scent of Wynn’s perfume lingering on her clothes.

She didn’t mention it. Instead, she gently pushed Jordyn away.

Trevor sat beside Martha and placed a box in front of her. “This is a token of apology.”

Inside was a pack of Coffea Arabica that Martha loved. It was rare on the market and difficult to obtain, even at a high price.

Martha knew Trevor was apologizing for not showing up at the hot spring retreat previously.

She huffed lightly. “You’ve got me covered, but what about Cel? Did you get her anything as an apology?”

Trevor remained silent as he glanced at Celeste.

It was only a brief look, without any deeper emotion.

Martha had meant to speak up for Celeste, hoping Trevor would show her more care.

To Celeste, however, it no longer mattered.

She didn’t look at Trevor. “Grandma, the food is getting cold. Let’s eat,” she said with a smile.

Martha thought Celeste had changed the subject to defend Trevor. After all, whenever Martha reprimanded him for neglecting Celeste in the past, Celeste would always find a way to justify his actions.

Martha sighed. “You’re always on his side.”

Celeste simply smiled and said nothing.

Trevor’s face remained just as aloof. His expression didn’t change despite Celeste speaking for him.

But it was getting late, and they should start eating.

Martha stood up and took Jordyn’s hand. “It’s been a while since you had dinner with me, Jo. Do you want to sit beside me later?”

Jordyn nodded obediently. “Okay.”

“What a good girl.” Martha gave Trevor a meaningful glance as she spoke.

Celeste knew Martha was trying to bring her and Trevor closer again.

She didn’t bother looking at Trevor’s reaction. Instead, she followed Martha to the dining room.

As she sat down across from Martha and Jordyn, she caught a glimpse of Trevor pulling out the chair beside her and sitting down.

Martha finally grinned in satisfaction.

When all the dishes were served, she said to Trevor, “Pass Cel the dishes.”

Celeste didn’t look at him. “It’s okay, Grandma. I can—”

Before she could finish her sentence, Trevor placed the mashed potatoes she liked in front of her.

Celeste paused for a moment. “Thank you.”

Trevor said nothing.

Usually, when Martha asked Trevor to pass dishes to Celeste, she meant for him to take care of Celeste during the meal.

Whenever Celeste reached for something, Trevor would immediately hand her the dish she wanted. He also remembered what she liked and disliked.

But it meant little to Celeste now.

After all, this had happened many times over the years. With Trevor’s sharp memory, remembering such things required no effort.

After finishing their meal, Trevor chatted with Martha.

Celeste listened quietly from the side. She never initiated a conversation with Trevor and rarely made eye contact with him.

Martha sighed softly. Despite being married for so long, Celeste and Trevor barely spoke to each other.

By around nine in the evening, Martha began to feel tired. She waved her hand and gestured for them to go upstairs and get some rest.
